In a badminton tournament, matches are played using the rally point scoring system, where each rally results in a point regardless of which side served. Each match is best of three games, with each game played to 21 points. A player or team must win by a 2-point margin, but if the score reaches 29-all, the first to reach 30 wins. In singles, players serve from the right side when their score is even and from the left when odd. In doubles, teams rotate service positions based on the score, and only one service is allowed per side per point. Players must serve below the waist with both feet within the service court and must not step on boundary lines during service. A rally is lost if the shuttle lands outside the court, fails to clear the net, or if a player commits a fault by touching the net or hitting the shuttle twice. A coin toss determines the initial server and side. Players switch sides after each game and, in the third game, once the leading score reaches 11. A 60-second break is allowed at 11 points and a 2-minute break between games. Referee decisions are final, and misconduct such as delays or inappropriate behavior may lead to penalties or disqualification.
